Andrea Weyermann
Sr. Lecturer Psychology- Biography
The current focus of my professional career is teaching. I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Georgia State University, and the courses I teach reflect my clinical interests. I teach Theories of Personality, Abnormal Psychology, Interpersonal Psychology, Human Sexuality and Careers in Psychology. In addition to these courses, I plan on teaching two CTW courses entitled Marriage in America and Understanding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Although currently not engaged in a clinical practice, I have worked extensively with victims of traumatic experiences in both private and research settings. I also have treated a more general population including adults, couples and families.
In addition to my teaching duties, I am the Department of Psychology’s Career and Graduate School Advisor for undergraduate psychology majors here at Georgia State University. My goal in this role is to provide assistance to students seeking direction and guidance in planning their future work in a psychology related field. I advise students on concerns related to graduate schools and the job market. The Careers in Psychology course has been specifically designed to address these concerns for students. Finally, I also serve on the Pre-Med Advisory Committee for Georgia State undergraduates and Post-Baccalaureates. In this role, I evaluate the strength of the records of students who are interested in attending medical school.
